EDF Energy is hosting a series of public exhibitions concerning its latest wind farm development.

Located near Puriton, the Withy Farm site is being considered for nine two-megawatt turbines.

Collectively, the turbines would be capable of producing enough electricity to supply the annual requirements of over 10,000 homes.

This could save at least 17,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, according to the energy company.

Dennis Garry, EDF Energy Renewables' development manager for the project, commented: "We've opted for informal sessions taking place during the day and in the evenings so those interested will be able to drop in whenever convenient and that will help us to see more people.

"We believe the site is very suitable for a wind farm and if approved, would provide low carbon energy for years to come."

A recent report from ENDS Europe revealed that wind power will dwarf other sources of renewable energy sources in Europe by 2020.
